必須
- PhD with 3+ years or MS with 5+ years of relevant experience in gene therapy, pharmacology or gene regulation research field
- Technical proficiency in molecular and cell biology methods, including the ability to plan, prepare, execute, and interpret experiments
- English communication skills sufficient for scientific discussions and documentation in a global team
- Japanese skills sufficient for day‑to‑day laboratory work, compliance with internal policies and procedures, and understanding applicable laws and regulations.
歓迎
- PhD in molecular biology, life sciences, or a related discipline.
- Practical experience in the design, production, characterisation, or evaluation of AAV vectors.
- Practical experience in aptamer discovery, optimisation, characterisation, or functional evaluation.
- Knowledge of relevant therapeutic areas, including ophthalmology, central nervous system, or neuromuscular diseases.
- Experience contributing to patent applications, conducting patent searches, or supporting freedom-to-operate (FTO) assessments.
- Experience collaborating with academic or biotechnology partners.
- Experience assessing external research and partnership opportunities in academic, postdoctoral, or industry projects.
- Experience working effectively in global, cross-functional teams with colleagues from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds.

仕事内容
募集の背景 / Purpose & Scope
- The purpose of this position is to support innovation in Astellas gene therapy pipelines by designing and evaluating potential gene therapy product vectors and developing new assay technologies.
- By generating robust scientific evidence to guide vector selection, the role takes ownership of delivering high‑quality data that informs decisions across early discovery and preclinical research within the GT Engineering team of the Cell & Gene Therapy Research organization.
職務の内容 / Essential Job Responsibilities

- Design and construct plasmid payloads for adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors, and screen payload variants to identify and prioritise candidates for gene therapy programmes.
- Develop, optimise, and execute in vitro functional assays to evaluate vector performance and support data-driven candidate selection.
- Generate, analyse, interpret, and present high-quality experimental data, providing clear recommendations to inform project team discussions and decision-making.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across GT Engineering and partner functions to align activities, timelines, and deliverables with project objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate emerging gene therapy technologies and translate relevant advances into innovative, differentiated, and competitive programme strategies.
- Conduct all research activities in full compliance with applicable ethical standards, safety requirements, internal procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
