Experience leading a team of professionals.
Ability to communicate in Japanese fluently as this is an external-facing role that requires interactions in Japanese with local stakeholders.

Public-speaking experience and passion for Internet policy issues, and strong communication skills.
Understanding of Government Affairs and Public Policy in Japan.
Familiarity with internet technologies and the policy and political environments that surround them.
Ability to thrive in a fast moving environment.
Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex technical and regulatory issues.
Excellent personal, political, analytical and organizational skills.

As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.
As the Head of our Government Affairs & Public Policy team in Japan, you will represent Google externally at the highest levels with government, regulators and third parties, and also manage our stellar team of policy professionals. You will be responsible for determining and managing our key policy campaigns in-country and also for coordinating with cross-functional peers locally and with colleagues across Google’s global Government Affairs & Public Policy organization. You will be an empowering manager, capable of supporting and growing the team, ensuring that the team delivers at the highest levels but also has fun along the way.

Represent Google externally at the highest levels of policy-making and government in Japan.
Develop and lead public policy campaigns across the full range of policy areas that impact Google and the web (e.g., technology innovation, free expression, privacy and intellectual property).
Build a network of trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups and others to support policies that will help create/maintain a user-focused online environment and an open Internet.
Lead and empower the Government Affairs & Public Policy team in Japan.
Ensure relevant and timely internal communications and information flow locally and vis-a-vis with global colleagues.
