Amazon Japan はビジネスの成長をサポートする新しいフルフィルメントセンター,インバウンドクロスドック,アウトバウンドソートセンターなどFirst Mile/Middle Mileの新規サイト立ち上げおよび数十の既存サイトにおける改造プロジェクトにおいて、設置されるマテハン機器や自動化設備の安定稼働に向けて設備の安全性や品質、信頼性、生産性の改善を技術的にリードする Senior Engineer を探しています。本ポジションは、アマゾンのグローバルチームや国内外のサプライヤーと協力し共に成長しながら技術的なリーダーシップを発揮し、安全性やコストバランスを維持しつつ設備およびプロセスの能力と品質を最大化させます。また、オートメーションを含む最新鋭の搬送設備の導入に伴い新たに発生する技術課題に対しても状況に応じて最適なソリューションを提案し、関係するステークホルダーとの合意形成をとりながらタイムリーに解決へ導くことで新規ソートセンターの立ち上げを成功させ、日本のお客様へお届けする商品のリードタイム短縮と輸送コスト削減に貢献します。そして幅広い技術力や経験知を指導することでチーム全体の技術力を底上げし、さらに設備仕様や業務プロセスの標準化へつなげていくことで技術のスケールアップにも貢献します。下記が主な業務となります。
日本のオペレーションが計画する中期および年次計画に基づいてフルフィルメントセンターおよびソートセンターの立ち上げを実現すること。
設備の技術問題に対して重大性や影響度を迅速かつ正確に捉え、状況に応じて安全、日程、品質、コストの全体最適となるソリューションを提案し解決させること。
既存のコミュニケーションチャネルとワークプロセスの更なる改善を行い、社内外のステークホルダーとの信頼関係を構築しながらコンフリクトを解消し合意形成に結び付けるようマネージすること。
グローバルのエンジニアリングチームと連携し、最先端の設備や業務プロセスを日本に導入して、入出荷能力の向上や業務効率化を図ること。また、日本のベストプラクティスはグローバルへ提案し標準化すること。
国内外の協力会社と連携するだけでなく、継続的にそれら協力会社の能力を高め、安全性・品質の向上と低コスト化を推進すること。
安全基準とエンジニアリング指針に則り、標準作業作りなどを通してメカニズムを構築し安全な職場を実現すること。
Amazon Japan is seeking an Senior Engineer to manage the construction of the material handling equipment and automation equipment, verify the operational capability, and start up the new fulfillment center/IB cross-dock/OB sort center that handles First mile/Middle mile delivery. This position will demonstrate technical leadership while working and growing with Amazon's global team and domestic and international suppliers to maximize facility and process capability and quality while maintaining safety and cost balance. In addition, we propose optimal solutions for new technical issues that arise with the introduction of state-of-the-art transportation equipment, including automation. By guiding them, we will successfully launch a new sort center and contribute to shortening lead times and reducing transportation costs for products delivered to Japanese customers. In addition, by teaching a wide range of technical skills and empirical knowledge, we will raise the technical skills of the entire team, and furthermore, we will contribute to the scale-up of technology by leading to the standardization of equipment specifications and business processes.
The following are the main duties.
Realize the launch of fulfillment centers and sort centers based on the mid-term and annual plans planned by the Japanese operations.
Quickly and accurately grasp the severity and impact of technical problems with equipment, and propose and resolve solutions that optimize overall safety, schedule, quality, and cost, depending on the situation.
Further improve existing communication channels and work processes, build relationships of trust with internal and external stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and manage to build consensus.
Collaborate with global engineering teams and introduce new technology and processes to Japan to improve shipping and receiving capabilities and improve business efficiency. In addition, Japan's best practices should be proposed globally and standardized.
In addition to collaborating with partner companies in Japan and overseas, continuously improve the capabilities of these partner companies, and promote improvements in safety and quality as well as cost reductions.
According to safety standards and engineering guidelines, create a mechanism through the creation of standard work, etc., and realize a safe workplace.

Key job responsibilities

マテリアルハンドリングや各種自動化設備の設置から試運転テストそして検収プロセスをリードする。
Amazon 社内関係者や外部ベンダーとの信頼関係を構築しながら安全と品質、コストの全体最適を考慮した上で技術的課題やコンフリクトを解決し、計画どおりのプロジェクト遂行をリードする。

工事安全や品質に関わる事象と原因を深く掘り下げて本質的課題を特定・解決し、再発防止につながる仕組みや基準を構築する。
最高の価値と競争力を実現するために、調達やその他ビジネスパートナーへの設備仕様と技術サポートを提供する。
Lead the installation of material handling and various automated equipment, commissioning tests and acceptance inspection processes for both new site launch and also legacy site retrofit/expansion.
Resolve conflicts after considering overall optimization while building trusting relationships with Amazon internal stakeholders and external vendors, and lead the project in a short period of time with high quality and low cost.
Collaborate with global engineering teams to introduce new safety and quality management processes or standards to Japan, and propose and deploy the best practices in Japan to global teams.
Dive deep on technical details to identify and solve the technical problems and to build a mechanism or standard that leads to recurrence prevention.
Assist in providing equipment specifications and technical support to procurement and other business partners for best value and competition.

A day in the life

一週間に 3~4 日を工事中のサイトで勤務し現場の工事安全を統括リードし、各ベンダーや関係部署にまたがる複雑な技術課題の解決をリードします。グローバルチームメンバーと協業しながら業務プロセスや標準の改善に向けてドキュメントを作成し提案、実行します。業務を進めるうえで何か迷うことがあれば、チャットや F2F の会話を通して気軽に相談しながら、チーム全体でサポートし合います。フレックスが基本ですが、原則 18 時以降は会議やメールは行いません。有給休暇の取得率も高く長期休暇も、もちろん取得可能です。
An acting site lead works 3 to 4 days per week in a site under construction, leading safety management and solving complex technical issues that cross vendors and other departments. Propose, and implement documents to improve work processes and standards while collaborating with global team. If they have any questions while working, feel free to consult other members through chat or F2F conversations, and the entire team will support each other. Flextime is the norm, and generally there are no meetings or emails after 6pm. We have a high rate of paid vacations, and of course they can take long vacations.

About the team

チームメンバーは総勢36名で、年間 2～4サイトの新規サイト立ち上げるおよび数十の既存サイトにおける改造プロジェクトにおいて、現場リード 1 名と施工管理者複数名が着工から稼働までプロジェクトを指揮します。チームメンバーは機械・電気工学から建設の分野までさまざまなバックグラウンドを持っていますが、定期的なチームミーティングや現場レビューを通じてお互いの知識や経験を共有し、オープンな議論を行っています。そうすることで個人のスキル向上を促しながら、チームとしての成長を目指しています。
There are 36 members in the team, and in order to launch 2 to 4 new greenfield sites and multiple legacy site retrofit projects per year, a site deployment lead and multiple construction managers per site will lead the project from the start of construction to go live. Team members have various backgrounds ranging from mechanical and electrical engineering to architectural design, but through regular team meetings and on-site reviews, they share their knowledge and experience and engage in open discussions. By doing so, we aim to grow as a team while improving individual skills.
